Having gone through a regeneration for the 2012 Olympic games, Stratford is a bustling town in the East end of London. Incredibly popular with young couples and families alike, Stratford is home to some of the city’s memorable places such as the London Aquatics Center, Westfield Mall and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to name a few. If you happen to be in this part of London, here are the things you must do.
1. Take a ride on the Cloud Cable Car
The IFS Cloud Cable Car is Uk’s first and only urban cable car and it crosses the River Thames between Greenwich Peninsula and the Royal Docks. The ride lasts 20 mins and as it flies 90 meters above the Thames, you’ll enjoy stunning views of St Paul’s Cathedral, The Gherkin, Thames Barrier, Maritime Greenwich and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
2. Stepheny City Farm
Set up by residents in London’s East End on a derelict site bombed in World War II, Stepheny City farm is open for free six days a week. You can also pick up lots of fresh local produce and handmade items from the farmers’ market which is open on Saturdays.
3. Westfield Stratford City
Whether you need a showstopping dress to attend the Coronation of King Charles, you want to organise a corporate lunch or you want to see the latest blockbuster movie, the Westfield City Mall is the spot to go. As Europe’s largest shopping centre, there’s something for everyone here.
4. The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Named after the late Queen Elizabeth, the park has plenty for you to explore. You can enjoy a meal with friends, participate in a guided tour or simply enjoy a leafy stroll.
4. ArcelorMittal Orbit
Enjoy a spot of entertainment at the ArcelorMittal Orbit. What began life as the London 2012 Olympic torch is now a showstopping events and hospitality venue. You can slide down the world’s longest tunnel or enjoy a dinner and comedy show.
5. London Aquatics Centre

Designed by the late Starchitect Zaha Hadid, the London Aquatics Centre gives you a unique opportunity to swim in the pool of champions. The centre offers a range of activities; diving lessons, family sessions, swimming and other aquatic disciplines. And here’s some inside tip, if you stick around long enough, you may spot the Olympian Tom Daley. We’ve heard he does his training here.
6. Stratford East Theatre
With performances such as “The Village Idiot” and “An Evening of Classic Reggae,” The Stratford East Theatre is the place to experience the heartbeat of the East End through art.
